Gyeonggi International Ceramix Biennale

As a competition organised in South Korea, Gyeonggi International Ceramix Biennale seeks to expand the span of ceramics and to discover the new potential of figurative art for the 21st century. Immediately from the first competition in 2001, the event has become an international forum for trends in the contemporary world ceramics. To involve as wide scale of contemporary ceramic art as possible was the purpose of the 6th year of the competition. Therefore, organisers concentrated on experimenting that was also included in the name of the exhibition – CeraMIX.

3362 works from 1875 artists from 71 countries registered for the competition. The jury selected 160 artworks and awarded 25 prizes. Slovak visual artist Martin Rosenberger, a graduate of the ceramics studio of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, participated in the competition. Jury members selected his ceramic work called Game to be displayed at the final exhibition and awarded with the honorary mention.
