The item was acquired as a wedding apron for cooks. From the appearance of the handwoven item, I deduce that it was probably a napkin used for bread storage (bread cloth), which was occasionally used as an apron to protect the cook’s outfit at the wedding from getting dirty. It is woven from cotton yarn, with a pattern woven on both ends, using hemstitching and whipstitching. Fringes from the warp of the fabric are left at the ends.
