The shorts are made of home-woven hemp-cotton canvas. A large gusset is sewn between two rectangles. The top of the shorts is turned outwards and stitched, creating a fold for inserting a drawstring. Below the fold, a monogram, M V, is embroidered on the front. The monogram and small decoration are embroidered with cross stitches. The bottom edge of the shorts is reinforced with stitched hem and frayed.
