The new publication by Irena Pišútová Faience in Slovakia builds on her successful work from the edition Folk Art in Slovakia by Tatran publishing house from 1981. The new release by UĽUV in the Tradition today edition brings texts supplemented with new information that the author acquired during her work in the field over the past twenty years. A new chapter on haban ceramics in central Slovakia has been added, but perhaps the biggest contribution is a completely new selection of photographs. In addition to objects from private collections of collectors, the author presents in her work photographs of collection items from the Balneological Museum in Piešťany, Bratislava City Museum, the Danube Museum in Komárno, Slovak National Museums in Bratislava and Martin, Ethnographic Museum, Červený Kameň Museum in Častá, Central Slovak Museum in Banská Bystrica, Záhorské Museum in Skalica and the Western Slovak Museum in Trnava. Unique photographs are complemented by a list of potter’s marks or workshops where faience was made. The publication is released in an equal, bilingual Slovak-English mutation. Bilingual: Slovak-English mutation and description of photographs and images.
Published by the Center of Folk Art Production in Bratislava, a state-subsidized organization established by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic in 2016.
