The sleeves are made of factory canvas, from two kinds. The sleeves were dyed with indigo. The embroidery on the sleeves is a combination of pea and pre-traced ornament, stitched with a full stitch. Untwisted silk is used as embroidery thread. The sleeve ends are turned over and a strip of embroidery is sewn on through gathering. The sleeves were washed, and the colored silk released color not only into the canvas but also into the embroidery.
