A professional historian and archivist has been devoted to wood carving for almost half a century. In the early days of his interest, like many other educated but untrained artists, there was an effort to utilize general aesthetic principles and academic sculpture in portraying figures.

Gradually, this interest evolved into a compelling need to transform wood into storytelling figures, to convey something of himself and his feelings through sculpture. Zoričák found such space and satisfaction in his own creation by consciously using the principles of folk art, but with distinct traces of his own handwriting, intentionally distinguishing himself from other contemporary and past authors working with these methods of creation.

In 2002, Peter Zoričák was awarded the title of master of folk art production for his work.
