ÚĽUV safeguards, supports and develops folk art production by providing consultancy and other help to folk art producers. The advice given by ÚĽUV consultants focuses on how the products are artistically and technologically processed. Subsequently the producers submit their products once a year for a specialist evaluation by the Art committee. Some of the consultants’ important duties include preparing each year the required documentation and organising the meeting of the specialist committee for awarding the title of Master of Folk Art Production.
Consultancy activities also include continually looking out for and bringing back to life disappearing types of production and original techniques. There is also register of award-winning masters of traditional crafts and producers of new products including a brief profile of the producer with samples of their range on the ÚĽUV website.
One particular feature of the work carried out by this section is organising the production of selected types of textiles and traditional clothing with elements of regional patterns. The production is preceded by the monitoring of textile productions, of regional variations in traditional items of clothing and of active producers in this sphere.
